Phone thefts on trains increased by 1000% in a year

In 2016 about 2,009 cases on phone thefts were reported where in 2017 there were 20,764 cases reported.

In 2018 till June itself, already 15,997 cases have been reported.

This happened as the government railway police (GRP) would ask for your phone documents on the spot for your complaint to be registered. And as passengers usually didn't carry the documents, FIRs weren't filed.

Now the police is required to lodge an FIR without any documents.
